Debunking the Myths of Exporting

IMG_2026

Dr Peter Mowforth gave a talk at an event hosted by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce who were running their first event of a series on Exporting. The day started off with Welcome from Stuart Patrick, Chief Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce welcoming the guests , followed by the Keynote speaker – Craig Davidson Director of Customer Services and Logistics, Edrington. The day was split into different Panel sessions for Markets, Challenges, Money and Skills in Exporting and Dr Peter Mowforth gave a presentation on ‘Ecommerce for Exporting – Feasibiity testing and Risk Reduction’

ABSTRACT: Ecommerce now accounts for over 30% of UK GDP and continues to grow at around 13% annually. According to the Boston Consulting Group, companies that focus on ecommerce can export up to three times as much as companies that do not do ecommerce. On the basis of a small but rapidly growing group of Scottish companies, clear rules and guidelines exist for what a company needs to do to grow a successful exporting ecommerce business. INDEZ and the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce have combined to offer a new service called eTradeTester that undertakes Ecommerce Feasibility Tests. These short reports provide clear insights into how a new or existing ecommerce business can quickly focus onto those activities that create the most profit and largest export opportunity to best grow their business.

For further information on his talk please see slides, which are available to download here: http://www.indez.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/slides.pdf.

If you would like to find out further information on how to do ecommerce globally for exporting please visit our website or give us a call on 0141 204 5297 and we would love to hear from you.
