Merchant City Music has sold guitars, amps and effects in Glasgow since 1992, from its showroom and online at Guitar.co.uk. INDEZ moved the store off Magento 1 and onto Magento 2 with Hyvä in one project, with a new checkout and Amazon, eBay and Reverb connected, and took it live on 22 July 2026.
Move Guitar.co.uk off Magento 1, which stopped getting security updates in 2020, onto Magento 2 with a Hyvä front end. Bring every product, customer and order across, replace the checkout, and keep Amazon, eBay and Reverb selling from the same stock.
Rather than move to Magento 2 first and redesign later, we went straight from Magento 1 to Magento 2 on Hyvä. Drag the slider to compare the old site with the new one.
Magento Open Source 2.4.7 with the Hyvä theme and Hyvä Commerce, so pages use Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS instead of Magento's heavy default front end.
A one-page Hyvä Checkout with Loqate address lookup. Card, PayPal, Klarna, Pay by Bank and Apple Pay through Mollie, plus Amazon Pay.
Products, attributes, customers and orders came over from Magento 1, with old URLs redirected to their new pages.
Banners, landing pages and the homepage are built in the Hyvä CMS editor, so the team can change them without a developer.
Guitar.co.uk sells on Amazon, eBay and Reverb, the marketplace for musicians. All three run from the Magento 2 stock, so a guitar sold in one place comes off sale everywhere.
Listings, stock and orders for both marketplaces through M2E Pro, from the same catalogue.
Three Reverb accounts through CedCommerce, with an INDEZ module for category mapping and a "Sync to Reverb" flag on each product.
Orders from every marketplace come into Magento, and stock updates go back out, so the shop floor, the website and the marketplaces agree.
Products held by suppliers show as "In Stock – Online" with next-working-day delivery, so customers see what can ship, not just what is on the shelf.
Musicians search by brand and model. After launch we rebuilt how results are ranked: relevance first, then in stock, bestsellers and new arrivals, with nickname matching so “tele” finds Telecasters.
Merchant City Music tested every page on a staging copy of the new store and signed it off before we took it live on 22 July 2026.
Every page, payment method and marketplace link was tested on a staging copy of the store, and every test was marked as passed before sign-off.
A scheduled switch-over with ads paused during the deploy, then the INDEZ team on hand all day to check orders and marketplaces.
Build starts on Magento 2 with Hyvä.
Every user acceptance test marked as passed and the staging site signed off.
The new Guitar.co.uk goes live on Magento 2 and Hyvä.
